Mary Hiester Reid’s Old Leeds Bridge Framed

Mary Hiester Reid and her husband first visited the Onteora area of New York in the summer of 1881, spending their days painting the landscapes of the Catskills. The couple enjoyed the area so much they bought land and built a summer home in the area. They later joined the local art club and started to teach painting classes from their home. Many Canadian artists came to visit and paint with them in Onteora.

Our painting is from that first summer. It features the beautiful Old Leed’s Bridge in Leeds, New York.
